Configure Denying Router Solicitations on All IPv6 Interfaces By Default
An XCCDF Rule
Description
To set the runtime status of the net.ipv6.conf.default.router_solicitations
kernel parameter, run the following command:
$ sudo sysctl -w net.ipv6.conf.default.router_solicitations=0To make sure that the setting is persistent, add the following line to a file in the directory
/etc/sysctl.d
: net.ipv6.conf.default.router_solicitations = 0
Rationale
To prevent discovery of the system by other systems, router solicitation requests should be denied.
