<VulnDiscussion>By limiting the number of failed logon attempts, the risk of unauthorized system access via user password guessing, otherwise known as brute forcing, is reduced. Remediation - Manual Procedure

Configure CounterACT or its associated authentication server to enforce the limit of three consecutive invalid logon attempts by a user during a "15" minute time period.

1. Log on to the CounterACT Administrator UI.
2. From the menu, select Tools >> Options >> User Console and Options >> Password and Login.
3. Ensure the "Lock account after" radio button is selected.
4. Ensure that "3" password failures for "15" minutes is configured.
