Configure Maximum Number of Autoconfigured Addresses on All IPv6 Interfaces By Default
An XCCDF Rule
Description
To set the runtime status of the net.ipv6.conf.default.max_addresses
kernel parameter, run the following command:
$ sudo sysctl -w net.ipv6.conf.default.max_addresses=1To make sure that the setting is persistent, add the following line to a file in the directory
/etc/sysctl.d
: net.ipv6.conf.default.max_addresses = 1
Rationale
The number of global unicast IPv6 addresses for each interface should be limited exactly to the number of statically configured addresses.
