The Oracle Linux operating system must implement cryptography to protect the integrity of Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP) communications.

An XCCDF Rule

Description

<VulnDiscussion>Without cryptographic integrity protections, information can be altered by unauthorized users without detection. Cryptographic mechanisms used for protecting the integrity of information include, for example, signed hash functions using asymmetric cryptography enabling distribution of the public key to verify the hash information while maintaining the confidentiality of the key used to generate the hash.</VulnDiscussion><FalsePositives></FalsePositives><FalseNegatives></FalseNegatives><Documentable>false</Documentable><Mitigations></Mitigations><SeverityOverrideGuidance></SeverityOverrideGuidance><PotentialImpacts></PotentialImpacts><ThirdPartyTools></ThirdPartyTools><MitigationControl></MitigationControl><Responsibility></Responsibility><IAControls></IAControls>

Remediation - Manual Procedure

Configure the operating system to implement cryptography to protect the integrity of LDAP remote access sessions.

Add or modify the following line in "/etc/sssd/sssd.conf":

     ldap_tls_cacert = /etc/pki/tls/certs/ca-bundle.crt
