Successful/unsuccessful uses of "userhelper" in TOSS must generate an audit record.
Medium Severity
<VulnDiscussion>Without generating audit records that are specific to the security and mission needs of the organization, it would be difficult to establish, correlate, and investigate the events relating to an incident or identify those responsible for one. Audit records can be generated from various components within the information system (e.g., module or policy filter). The "userhelper" command is not intended to be run interactively. "Userhelper" provides a basic interface to change a user's password, gecos information, and shell. The main difference between this program and its traditional equivalents (passwd, chfn, chsh) is that prompts are written to standard out to make it easy for a graphical user interface wrapper to interface to it as a child process.</VulnDiscussion><FalsePositives></FalsePositives><FalseNegatives></FalseNegatives><Documentable>false</Documentable><Mitigations></Mitigations><SeverityOverrideGuidance></SeverityOverrideGuidance><PotentialImpacts></PotentialImpacts><ThirdPartyTools></ThirdPartyTools><MitigationControl></MitigationControl><Responsibility></Responsibility><IAControls></IAControls>
